Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter, marks the start of Holy Week, the penultimate week of Lent. Catholics get together during Holy Week to commemorate and take part in the Passion of Jesus Christ. The last part of Christ's life in Jerusalem was during the Passion. It starts with His arrival in Jerusalem and ends with His crucifixion.


The most significant week of the church year is Holy Week. We commemorate Jesus' birth, death, and resurrection during this season. We recall his deeds, consider his teachings, and renew our commitment to acting as his disciples in the present.


This week, we can learn about Jesus’ sacrifices for us. As a student and as a Catholic, this helps me strengthen my beliefs in God. This week, make us remember that we owe our lives to God because he did not just make us as his master piece; he gave us Jesus Christ, who sacrificed himself for us to be free from evil.

Children are caroling, and teenagers are helping the elders prepare foods.   As we all know, this Christmas is the first celebration in the new normal. Kannawidan is one of the most anticipated festivals in Ilocos Sur because it is a showcase of indigenous performances, religious rituals, and cooking demos featuring the best of Ilocano dishes. It is very important to celebrate this kind of festival because it cannot just give us happiness, peace, and harmony; as a part of the new generation, it is very important for us to know the history of this place and their products. This festival helps us not forget the beautiful past of our province. They not only give entertainment; they also give knowledge. S o  if you have time, come and visit Kannawidan, or you’ll miss it and wait for another year.
